Man vs Makeup

One day I was talking to one of my good friends and she said that once a male friend of hers asked her why she wore makeup. She told me that she didn't know what to say. It wasn't because she was self-conscious or that she wanted to hide her face. She wore makeup because she wanted to, so she said that. He was confused and 'dared' her not to wear makeup the next day. That challenge was easy. So the next day she met him without any makeup. When he saw her he must have forgotten about the dare and asked her why she looked so dull today. Was she sick? Did she want to go home? Did she have enough sleep? The answer was, she wasn't wearing any makeup.

In today's society you are damned if you do, and damned if you don't. This applies to girls and makeup. Lately I have been hearing males (and others of the public) discuss their strong dislike for the stuff most of us wear everyday. I have heard several men and boys say that they feel like they are being treated unfairly by us putting on foundation or any type of makeup for that matter.

Now as I say (write) this I hope I'm not the only one finding these statements being made completely stupid. Everyone has the right to wear what they want, even to what they put on their face. Putting makeup on doesn't mean we are self-conscious or that we are wanting to attract someone. No. Most of us wear makeup just because we can!

Makeup doesn't significantly change how someone looks. It is there to enhance natural beauty. But in the end does it matter? It is all about what is in the inside that counts, right? Someone could be the meanest person you ever met, but has insanely good makeup. That doesn't change the fact that they are mean. (That was a bad analogy, I know.)

People saying that makeup is 'unfair' and 'misleading' don't understand that its whoevers wearing its choice. Yes, sometimes I wear makeup because I think I look shocking, or that I'm feeling a bit down about myself, but that's normal. Most of the time it doesn't worry me if I wear makeup on or not. But I like to wear makeup. I like having that sudden burst of confidence after making my makeup on point.

I'm not trying to single out men and boys. We all have our opinions. I know some guys who don't care if you wear makeup or not. With saying this, I know plenty of girls who hate that girls wear makeup. Don't let that change what you do though. It is up to you. If you want to makeup, wear it! Don't listen to what people say about makeup being 'misleading'. Everyone is beautiful! Embrace it.
