Shut Out by Kody Keplinger | Book Review

After reading the DUFF and absolutely falling in love with it I was excited to pick up Shut Out by the same author, Kody Keplinger. Shut Out is about a school were the soccer team and the football team have a strong rivalry. Lissa (the protagonist) becomes sick of her boyfriend always blowing her off to go and pick on the soccer team so she calls a meeting for her and the other girlfriends from both of the teams. They decide to call a sex strike in order to make peace between the two feuding sides.

This novel was completely different to anything I have read before. Like how many books have a sex strike in them? I really like how this story took place in the same high school as the DUFF, however none of those characters made an appearance.

The author of this book, Kody Keplinger, is an amazing writer and comes up with brilliant ideas for her novels. Each character had their own charisma which was a nice touch however at times I felt like some of their actions where a bit forced to work with the story. But this was only a minor flaw.

If you are looking for a easy going contemporary read then this is perfect for you! (It is also a great book to get you out of horrid reading slump that I had).
