Basic Back to School Makeup | Beauty

Hello lovelies!

So with school back in session the conundrum of wanting to wear minimal makeup but still have enough coverage to not look like a sleep deprived zombie has dawned on us yet again. Sometimes though, I'm super lazy and choose to sleep longer instead of applying makeup, but don't we all? To be honest, wearing makeup to school isn't a necessity.

Here are some of the products I use and some handy tips for wearing makeup at school.

[Disclaimer: Now some schools totally oppose wearing makeup to school, others let you get a way with a small amount (that's mine) and others don't care and you can wear as much as you like. You know your school and how the rules work, so make sure you keep that in mind.]

Step 1
For a face product I opt for a BB or CC cream. Most of these creams look great on and blur imperfections while putting back some good nutrients into your skin and protecting you from the sun. I usually use Mabelline Dream Fresh BB cream in the shade fair. Using my hands, I smear the product all over my face to restore colour and to brighten my overall appearance.

Step 2
For school I don't bother about using a highlight, but if you want to you can. Next I apply either Benefit's Stay Don't Stray primer for concealers and eye shadows or Rimmel's Hide the Blemish Concealer as a concealer. I blend either product over problem areas including the eyes and chin. This makes you look less tired.

Step 3
For school I don't worry about using a 'good' setting face powder. I usually go for my Boe Beauty Pressed Powder Compact in the shade fair. I pat this (with a powder brush) all over my face.

Step 4
Next I use my Benefit Dandelion blush for a natural colour. I don't to much, but enough to be seen.

Step 5
I usually put a small amount of mascara to make my eyelashes look longer, for this I use Outrageous Volume Mascara by Designer Brands.

Step 6
Lastly I usually apply a small amount of lip gloss or lip balm to finish the look off.

All this usually takes me around 5-7 minutes, at that.

TIPS
  • For school photo days don't use a foundation with any sunscreen in it (for example: SP25). This creates a white face look when using flash photography.
  • BB or CC cream in your correct color is the perfect light weight face product for school as it creates a very natural look.
  • Stay clear of eyeliner.
  • BLEND!

  • BLEND!
  • For school photos (if you want to be serious about it) use a green concealer over red areas to neutralize the area before going it over it with your normal colored concealer.
  • Lipstick is never a good idea for school. For a 'natural' color opt for a lip tint in a pink color, stay clear of reds as they are  defiantly not a 'natural' lip colour and are too overpowering for school.
  • Try and avoid touching your face throughout the day. (I have a problem with this).
Just remember that less is more and that wearing no makeup is perfectly fine as well.
